GoPro HERO 12 Released

The GoPro Hero 12 Black represents a major leap in action camera technology with its HDR video, exceptional stabilization, wide-angle lens, and extended runtimes. While it’s a fantastic upgrade for most users, the loss of GPS may impact some, and the Quik app could use improvements for handling longer 4K videos. Adding the new features to the already great choice of the HERO 11 makes this a great new release.

What’s New:

  1. HDR Video: High Dynamic Range 5.3K and 4K video for incredibly vivid images.
  2. HyperSmooth 6.0: Exceptional in-camera video stabilization, with a 360° Horizon Lock feature.
  3. Max Lens Mod 2.0: Offers an impressive 177° field of view for capturing thrilling action shots.
  4. Longer Runtimes: Improved power management provides up to 2x longer recording times.
  5. Bluetooth Audio Support: Now supports Apple AirPods and other wireless audio devices.
  6. Advanced Features: Timecode sync, 10-bit color, and GP-Log with LUT support for professionals.
  7. 27MP Images: Stunning still photos and the flexibility to switch between wide-screen, vertical, and standard frame modes.
  8. In-built Tripod Mount: In-built 1/4-20 tripod mount at the bottom of the GoPro. Making it so much easier to use the camera with your tripods and masts.

Downsides:

  1. GPS Support: The Hero 12 Black no longer supports GPS data, which may be missed by motorsports enthusiasts and hikers.
  2. Editing App: The GoPro Quik app may experience issues with longer 4K video files, especially on older devices.

Conclusion:

We believe this would be a great choice for a wide-angle, end-zone or aerial mast camera with the long recording time, waterproof features and an extremely wide-angle mod. For its price tag, it is definitely hardware that you should consider purchasing.
